The Fed Held Rates, But Gold Has More Than One Opportunity Cost

The 28 October 2026 FOMC hold is a policy observation, not a single-number gold valuation model. Nominal rates, TIPS real yields, currencies and fund flows operate on different clocks.

The Decision Journal Is Not a Crystal Ball: What Recording Beliefs Can and Cannot Improve

A dated decision record can preserve what a person believed before outcomes became known. But prediction quality requires probabilities, comparable questions and honest accounting for missing decisions—not just polished reflections.

Sleep Timing Variability: Why Seven Hours Do Not Guarantee the Same Next-Day Attention

Sleep duration and sleep timing are different variables. Primary studies of weekday–weekend timing, experimental sleep restriction and circadian phase show what next-day attention research can—and cannot—establish.

Gold ETF Holdings Rose as Assets Fell: September 2026's Valuation Puzzle

September's official gold ETF ledger shows more bullion and fresh investor inflows alongside a lower dollar asset value. The apparent contradiction disappears when quantity, valuation and flows are separated.

When Gold and Real Yields Disagree: Reading the October 2026 Evidence Without a Single-Cause Story

September gold weakness coexisted with substantial ETF inflows. A careful reading separates real yields, the dollar, futures positioning and reserve accounting rather than treating any one measure as a trading signal.

Attention Is Not Information: The Financial Headline Selection Problem

Empirical studies on investor attention, search volume and news congestion challenge the idea that the loudest headline carries the most insight.
